We collaborated with DeFeet, a North Carolina based performance sock company to produce this subdued color tactical version of the Aireator sock. Originally designed in 1992, the Aireator was the first cycling sock with an open mesh weave instep for breathability and moisture wicking. This lightweight and durable Aireator also features a double cuff to provide additional compression in the ankle zone to prevent slipping during intense activity. These are my favorite socks, and I've used them personally for about six years now. My only complaint was that they were usually only available in bright, flashy colors. So we at Nixieworks have partnered with DeFeet to produce a run of these socks in our classic "two tone" color scheme of Ranger Green and Coyote Brown, with orange Nixieworks/DeFeet logos placed specifically to be hidden when the sock is inside your shoe.
The design of this sock allows it to be highly breathable and moisture wicking, to dry extremely fast after getting wet, and to be exceptionally durable and resistant to wearing out. I use these pretty much all four seasons, carrying a couple pairs, switching them out when they get wet, and drying the wet pair in a pant or jacket pocket using my body heat. This allows me to carry fewer pairs of socks while still being able to change them out often in bad weather. We all know how important foot care is out in the field, and I cannot think of a sock I'd rather have to keep my feet good to go.
